Tutoring Time!

Have some extra free time available? Love to help school-age children learn? This is the opportunity for you! Anton Grdina Elementary School, located at 2955 East 71st Street is looking for volunteer tutors for third graders.

Responsibilities:

-Meet with students at least once or twice per week at Anton Grdina

-Assist students with assigned work or practice in subject areas

-Work with 1-3 students at a time outside of the classroom

ALL tutors must pass a criminal background check before tutoring students!

 

Time Requirements:

-Attendance at a one hour orientation/training session prior to volunteering

-One hour per week minimum committment

-Weekdays during school hours: 8:00a.m.-2:10p.m.

-Three month minimum committment

1. Call Curtis Hutchison, Curriculum Specialist, with any questions and for a short screening interview at 440-225-7574

2. Fill out CMSD registration and release forms

3. Bring to Anton Grdina office or send to:

4. Schedule a background check with the volunteer manager

Time: 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. and 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m.

Cost: $46.00 payable with money order. Anton Grdina can cover this!

Kinsman Night Out Against Crime Tuesday!

29th Annual National Night Out

Tuesday, August 7th

National Night Out is and annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity to build our community by getting to know our neighbors even better.

They expect nearly 500 families from the community to attend.

CALL NOW!!! Help Us Stop K&M Deli From Obtaining A Liquor License

Attention Residents!!!

Are you aware that K&M Deli has applied for a liquor license on E. 79th Street, in the Kinsman neighborhood after they promised they would not?

Do we actually need another liquor license operation in our neighborhood?

NO…..

Well, get on the bus with us to the public hearing in Columbus, OH on January 12, 2010.   The bus will leave from Burten, Bell, Carr Development’s office, 7201 Kinsman Road, Suite 104 at 8:30am.  We will return to Cleveland by 5pm.

Garden Valley Community Meetings

Residents in the Garden Valley area are invited to come learn about CMHA’s “Vision for a New Community”.

CMHA will be hosting a series of public meetings regarding the plans for redeveloping Garden Valley Housing Estates, located between E. 68th – E. 79th Streets along Kinsman Road. Residents are encouraged to attend one of the three following meetings:

Tuesday, October 16th at 1:30 pm
Wednesday, October 24th at 5:30 pm
Thursday, November 1st at 10:00 am

All meetings will take place at the Garden Valley Community Center, located at 3060 E. 73rd Street.
