On December 12th, 2013, four individuals were honored as the 2013 Ohio Agriculture Women of the Year by Ohio First Lady Karen W. Kasich and Ohio Agriculture Director David T. Daniels. One of individuals was  from our very own city of Cleveland!

The four winners are:

Joanne Kick-Raack, of Pataskala

Lisa Schacht, of Canal Winchester

Morgan Taggart, of Cleveland

Micki Zartman, of Worthington.

Joanne Kick-Raack works as the state director for the Pesticide Safety Education Program at The Ohio State University Extension, creating the certification process for implementation for the Ohio Certified Crop Advisor program.

Lisa Schacht, with her husband, manage the Schacht Family Farm, assisting in daily operations and managing the market. She is the 2011 and 2012 president of the Ohio Produce Growers and Marketers Association, where she is the first female to hold this statewide title.

Morgan Taggart is a program specialist for agriculture and natural resources at The Ohio State University Extension in Cuyahoga County. She has worked for the past 8 years in this role providing training and assistance to both urban agriculture and local food projects in Greater Cleveland. She is also one of the original participants in the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Coalition, partnered with Case Western Reserve.

Micki Zartman known for great contribution to agriculture education working with The Ohio State University, founded Scarlet and Grey Ag Day at The Ohio State University. More recently, she has served as the coordinator for the Ohio World Food Prize program.
