As the 2010 fall semester moves forward, it is time for E CITY students to begin creating their business plans for a small business venture. As you may recall, each semester we reach out to our volunteer base to recruit supporters who are passionate about helping our students harvest their creativity and motivation to create their own business plans.

As the business plan competition approaches, we are in need of volunteer Business Plan Coaches to help assist our students in developing their business plans. The total commitment for the coaches will range from 5-7 hours for one week during the month of November or December.

Description of Role:
Each Business Plan Coach works one-on-one with a student to help shape and develop the business plan into Power Point slides and prepare their presentation. The students need the guidance of an adult to help optimize the language of their business plan, double-check the math, and boost their confidence. Coaches will be provided with orientation prior to service.

You must be college age or older. Individuals with a business background preferred, but not necessary. Comfort in using computers and doing basic math are essential, as is a general willingness to work with a teen. Must complete a $25 background check prior to volunteering, unless you have volunteered with us in the last year.
Signing Up:
Please see the timetable below and indicate which school you’d like to work with and what your availability would be. We ask that you pick a school and commit for that week of service, so that our students have the opportunity to have the same mentor. Please sign up indicating the interested school, availability and your contact information (name, phone number and e-mail address) via e-mail by contacting Benjamin Gregg at [email protected].

For questions, you can also contact Ben by phone at 216-373-7802. Background check processing information will be detailed after initial interest is confirmed.
