JFK 9th grade Students of Promise Program (formerly known as the Governor’s Closing the Achievement Gap Initiative) invites you to take “ A Day On” instead of a day off to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. at John F. Kennedy High School.

The “A Day On” Celebration program in the JFK Auditorium begins at 12 Noon. The program will feature Inspirational Music and Dance Selections, a Karamu Performing Arts Theatre presentation, Dramatization
and Reenactment of the Woolworth Sit-ins by a JFK 9th Grade English class, Video Vignettes, Student Recognition for Academic Achievement.

The day will begin with a student-driven service project in collaboration withKaiser Permanente employees, JFK Alumni, Neighborhood Leadership Institute,Sherwin Williams, JFK Student Parent Organization, Amer-I-Can Peace AllianceMembers and various community and faith organizations. Volunteers will assistin the painting of the boys and girls locker room and a peer mentoring/study tablesclassroom and the restoration of display cases in the school’s main hallway.
