Summer Jobs for Students

YOUNG AUDIENCES’ ArtWorks! is hiring for 6 week summer jobs:

Apprentices – for students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grades in the fall.

Assistant Teaching Artists – for students entering their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of higher education.

Site Coordinators – for students entering their senior year of undergraduate work or current graduate students.

There are many jobs offered. There are even jobs to be offered in ArtWorks for the culinary arts, video game design, architecture, recording arts, stage combat, dance, visual art, music and many more!
ArtWorks is an arts-based job training program for area high school students designed to provide training in the arts while developing skills for the workplace. For six weeks during the summer, Apprentices work under the guidance of Master Teaching Artists to create works of art in a variety of disciplines. The ArtWorks sites (Tri-C’s Metro Campus & the Halle Building) are overseen by two Site Coordinators.

Kids of all ages are invited to participate in three-legged races, obstacle courses, kickball and more. The field Day event will encourage youth to live healthy and active lives. This will be one of thousands of 2010 Play Days across the country.

BBC builds a new play ground in one day!

On July 10, 2010,  Burten, Bell, Carr, Development Inc., (BBC) KaBOOM!, and Foresters Insurance along with over 300 volunteers including sororities and fraternities, small businesses, local colleges, active community residents, and individuals constructed a playground on East 73rd Street between Central and Cedar Avenues in the East Central neighborhood of Cleveland.

9th Annual Rhapsody Hip-Hop Summer Arts Camp

Progressive Arts Alliance provides an exceptional opportunity for students to meet new friends, share and create each summer through our annual RHAPSODY Hip-Hop Summer Arts Camp.

Camp activities are alot of fun, but they also help students develop their imagination, creativity, The camp is held at the Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare.

This two-week camp is open to students age 11-18, and features hands-on workshops that allow students to learn more about the history and creative expressions of hip-hop culture:

DJing, MCing (rapping), Dance (breaking), Graffiti Art.

Students learn more about the arts and how hip-hop can be a positive, productive form of creative self-expression. The program culminates in a dynamic performance the last day of camp!

E City Seeking Business Plan Coaches

Spring 2010 Business Plan Coach Registration

 

   
Every student in E CITY’s programs must create a business plan for a small business venture. The students will first present these plans to their class, then six of them will be selected to present in front of a panel of judges at the final In-Class Competition.Description of Role:

Each Business Plan Coach works with a student to help shape and develop the business plan into Power Point slides and prepare his or her presentation. The students will need the guidance of an adult to help optimize the language, double-check the math, and boost their confidence.

Qualifications:

You must be college age or older. Comfort in using computers and doing basic math are essential, as is a general willingness to work with a teen.

Coaches will receive a list of coaching tips and a business plan outline in Power Point. You will have the support of a Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher and other business plan coaches.

You do not need to be a business expert to be effective in this role! E-City provides an orientation to all new and returning coaches on the first day 1/2 hour prior to class.
