Registration & Health Screenings at 8:45a.m.

Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.

Bring comfortable shoes and come down for this FREE one or two mile fun walk. T-shirts will be provided!

Walkers are encouraged to carpool and park in the Municipal Lot at E. 9th Street and the Shoreway for $3.00 (Exact change required) (All vans and buses transporting groups too!)

 FREE shuttles will be available from the Municipal Lot to take walkers to City Hall.

Boy Scouts Free Leaf Raking Application Due Tomorrow!

The Cleveland Department of Aging is collaborating with the Greater Cleveland Council of the Boy Scouts of America to hold Yard Charge 2010 where the scouts will rake leaves for Cleveland Senior Citizens.

The leaf raking will take place on Saturday morning November 13th (or a rescheduled date if there is inclement weather). Please note, you do not have to be home the day the Boy Scouts rake your yard. Likewise, you do not have to worry about the bags being left on your tree lawn as the City has arranged for a special trash pick-up that day to collect the leaf bags.

Join us as we roll up our sleeves and play! As a part of National Day of Play,we are hosting a Field Day at the E. 73rd Street KaBOOM! Playground. Kids of all ages are invited to participate in three-legged races, obstacle courses, kickball and more. The field Day event will encourage youth to live healthy and active lives. This will be one of thousands of 2010 Play Days across the country.

BBC builds a new play ground in one day!

On July 10, 2010,  Burten, Bell, Carr, Development Inc., (BBC) KaBOOM!, and Foresters Insurance along with over 300 volunteers including sororities and fraternities, small businesses, local colleges, active community residents, and individuals constructed a playground on East 73rd Street between Central and Cedar Avenues in the East Central neighborhood of Cleveland.

The Summer Mural Institute has been providing job training and leadership development to youth in Cleveland neighborhoods while creating large scale  public murals.

Come see the progress the Teen Apprentices  from Cleveland and East Cleveland have made on their murals.

Come meet  emerging artists from the Cleveland Institute of Art.

 Come visit  Artists in Residence Ted Kurtz and Danny Carver, who  have made murals for the Larchmere and Detroit Shoreway Neighborhood.

Neighborhood Connections Grant Seeker Work Shops

NC Grantseeker Workshops Proposal’s Due Friday, August 13th at 5pm .

Neighborhood Connections hosts several orientation sessions for groups looking to apply for funding. Groups are encouraged to attend the Grantseeker Orientation and to attend a Budget Workshop. At Grantseeker Workshops, participants get key information on the Neighborhood Connections’ grantmaking process. Learn what the grantmaking committee looks for in proposals, and get specifics on how to complete the application, including the budget. All applicants are encouraged to attend this session!

They now offer Budget Workshops for groups looking to get more detailed information on how to complete the NC Grant Application budget. One on one assistance is also available to groups that have already started their application. These sessions provide one on one assistance for those interested.
