Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

• Bounce Houses- one of the most visited booths for kids and need adult supervision for safe play.

Shifts: 10am-1pm    1pm-4pm      4pm-6pm

• Set Up & Clean Up- These are the most important positions to the success of the event. Setting up booths and cleaning up after are great group projects.

Shifts: 8am-11am & 5pm-7:30pm

POSITION TITLE:  GARDENER

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

There are four gardening positions available for a project at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Metro Campus.  Gardeners will be responsible for planting, growing, and harvesting fruits and vegetable in three large beds at Tri-C’s Metro Campus.  This is a part-time seasonal job with 15-20 hours per week from June 17^th through mid-October.  Prefer gardening experience, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES VARY BUT MAY INCLUDE:

• Garden maintenance (i.e. weeding, planting, grooming, and harvesting produce)
• Any additional relevant tasks that is required
• Removal of old plants
  • Must provide own transportation to gardening site

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Good work ethic
• Desire to learn new skills
• Willingness to get dirty
• Must be able and willing to work outside in all types of weather
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work on weekends

COMPENSATION:

Gardeners will be paid $10.00 per hour.

The project, which was received grant funding from Enterprise Community Partners, is part of an initiative to cultivate Kinsman as one of Cleveland’s two EcoDistricts.

Speeding traffic and narrow lanes have concerned Kinsman residents and block clubs for years.

We like to think of EcoDistricts as a well defined area in which both large- and residential-scale sustainable projects are focused.  In the Kinsman neighborhood, recently completed large-scale projects include Green City Growers Greenhouse, Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone, Bridgeport Cafe and CornUcopia Place, the green Heritage View Homes, CMHA’s LEED Silver headquarters, and CMHA’s solar farm.  At the resident level, BBC has performed energy-efficient home retrofits and concentrated a portion of its allocation of Backyard Gardens and City of Cleveland rain barrels.

We perceive that an improved Kinsman Road will not only connect the neighborhood’s eco-assets and other amenities, but will also promote alternative and sustainable transportation and make it safer, especially for the 40% of neighborhood residents who do not have access to an automobile.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Opportunities are available with the Bridgeport Mobile Market, a produce truck on wheels that travels to stops throughout Cleveland’s east side. Volunteers are needed to assist with the daily operations of the market, including loading the market truck and assist with sales.

The mobile market assistant will help the operator with loading or unloading produce onto the truck. He or she must be willing to work at a fast pace, while maintaining the integrity of the sales presentation.

The mobile market assistant will assist customers with produce questions in regards to quality and preparation as well as help make selections and assist the elderly and disabled. This position may entail standing and withstanding cold for long hours, and interacting with the community. This person should be outgoing and like talking to people, with the ability to sell, speak clearly and articulately.

This is an entry level position designed for those who are entering the workforce to learn and develop skills in business and sales that will prepare them for their future careers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willing to crouch, kneel or crawl to retrieve produce items
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Basic knowledge of produce or willingness to learn
• Enjoy interacting with people
• Punctuality is a must
• Tolerance of the cold

No problem! We are transporting mobile gardens in a bag and planting seedlings and seeds. There will be knowledgeable staff on hand. Gardens will be in the Central and Kinsman neighborhoods.

Lunch is provided. Also, there is the opportunity to get Free Tribe tickets!
