Burten, Bell, Carr Design Review District
The Burten, Bell, Carr Design Review District (BBC BRD) was formed in early 2007 for community stakeholders and design professionals to review the designs of all proposed new-construction developments and major renovations to existing buildings along the main thoroughfares of the Central and Kinsman neighborhoods.
Initially, the committee was comprised of three long-time residents who care deeply about the community and three highly-skilled architects that have worked extensively in BBC’s neighborhoods. The group was charged with ensuring that new projects are aesthetically-pleasing and functionally-accessible to potential users. Through this process, it would oversee that future development is held to the highest standard possible and make recommendations accordingly to the Cleveland Planning Commission.
In 2009, BBC’s program was merged with Slavic Village Development’s local review districts to form the East Region Design Review District. The committee includes stakeholders from each community and design professionals that have worked within both neighborhoods. To view a map of East Region territory, please click here. The Cleveland Planning Commission also posts the status of a particular projects that have been reviewed by the East Region committee and agendas for past and upcoming meetings.
