Juvenile Detention Center
Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. is partnering with the Campus District Inc. to plan for the adaptive reuse of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, located at the intersection of East 22nd Street and Central Avenue.
The existing 90,000-square-foot Juvenile Detention Center will be vacated in 2011 or 2012 due to the construction of a new facility to open at Quincy Avenue and East 93rd Street.
The planning process, which is supported by Cuyahoga County, is currently in its early stages. Currently, architects and planners are conducting stakeholder interviews to determine their desired end uses for the eighty-year-old building.
A final document guiding the redevelopment of the center is anticipated to be complete in August 2010.
