Arbor Park Village

Located from East 34th to East 40th Street and Community College Boulevard to Woodland Avenue, Arbor Park Village is a new 40 acre, 629 single-family unit public housing complex with a sense of community, look of luxury, and small town feel. Spearheaded by former Council President and current Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson and former City of Cleveland Mayor Michael R. White, this multi-million dollar project was developed by The Finch Group, who began construction in August 2001.

The townhouses feature brick veneers, colored vinyl siding, elaborate landscaping, and decorative accents. These buildings are situated around a center communal area consisting of green space, a playground and water fountain for children, picnic areas, and more. Newly-constructed streets are lined with light posts reminiscent of early 20th Century, trees and aesthetic landscaping, and lots of color and patterns.

The townhouses, half of which have been leased to former residents of now demolished Longwood Estates, offer a variety of amenities, from on-site laundry facilities, community center, daycare center, and Learning Resource/Computer Center to gas furnaces, central air conditioning, and General Electric Appliances. Each individual unit has its own raised laminate breakfast bar, light maple cabinets, laminate countertops, dishwasher, plenty of storage space, elegant light fixtures, mini blinds, and wall-to-wall carpeting. Outside, residents have access to their own private courtyard and patio that gives them a sense of space and ownership, as well as ample space for parking.

The project has created employment opportunities for residents of the complex. An estimated 36% of project workforce has been comprised of minority and female workers, exceeding the City of Cleveland’s 1/3 minority participation requirement.
