Nature’s Best Choices Adventures to Asia Plaza

On February 1, Nature’s Best Choices, a program by Quiana Singleton through the Community Climate Ambassadors, traveled to Asia Plaza with seniors from CMHA to learn about fruits and vegetables from Asian culture. The participants  chose various foods and returned to CornUcopia Place where Chef Eric Wells prepared a dish with the foods that the seniors brought back. The program promotes fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy eating.

You may qualify to participate in a research study about how to use your Marketplace health insurance if you answer “Yes” to the following questions:

  • Are you African American?
  • Do you live in Greater Cleveland
  • Did you get health insurance between 2014 and 2016?
  • Are you between 18 and 64 years old?

What’s involved in the study?

You will be asked to participate in a one-time educational program about:

  • Insurance term you need to know
  • Where to go for answers for you questions
  • How to find a doctor and make appointments
  • How to fill prescriptions

37th Annual American Community Gardening Association Conference

The 37th Annual meeting of the American Community Gardening Association Conference will be held in Cleveland this year!

The ACGA annual conference brings together individuals who are active in all aspects of gardening from across the United States, Canada, and abroad. The conference includes hands-on workshops, presentations, poster sessions, keynote speakers, and visits to community gardens, urban agriculture sites, food security projects, and other green space in Cleveland.

Cooking Class with Chef Eric Wells at BBC’s Cornucopia Place

 Join Chef Wells for a hands-on cooking demonstration that will develop your cooking skills while creating a festive atmosphere. Come alone or bring friends. Arrive 15 minutes before class begins. Events are held at the new state-of-the-art kitchen at Cornucopia Place. Everything you need will be provided.

All this for $30 per event (a retail value of $70!)

In the first event “Tomato, Tomato,” you will prepare Panzanella Salad (Italian bread salad with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and fresh basil in a Balsamic Vinai-grette), Tomato and Basil Bruschetta, Pan Seared Chicken Breast topped with Fresh Tomato Salsa, Rice Pilaf and Roasted Asparagus and Tomato Tarte Tatin for dessert.

Chef Eric Wells is a personal chef, caterer and culinary instructor. He is a strong advocate for healthy eating, especially for America’s youth. He has appeared on Food Request Live on Fox 8 and WEWS Newsnet 5 in Cleveland, as well as “Help I Need a Makeover” and “Another Look” channel 21.
