Youth Summer Engagement Opportunities

With Summer upon us, make sure that the youth in your life continue learning throughout their months out of school! Check out these opportunities to partake in, many of which are free!

Camp Carver
Fill your child’s summer with dance, theater, drumming, yoga, sports and field trips! Field trips include the Botanical Garden, The Children’s Museum and more!
Location: George Washington Carver STEM – 2200 East 55th Street
Ages: 6-13 year olds
Dates: Weekdays, June 8th- July 10th, 1:00-3:00pm

Smarter Summer 2015
Drop-in Summer Learning Camp.
Location: Rainbow Terrace Learning Center, 7310 Carson Ave
Ages: K-12
Dates: June 8th-August 19th; Monday-Friday 1:00-4:30pm
Cost: FREE!

Cleveland Public Library Programs
CPL offers many free family events and classes. There is free tutoring and craft making for kids, free GED classes, a summer reading club and free lunches. Learn more at cpl.org

Garden Valley Library Summer Reading Club
Garden Valley hosts a summer reading program with weekly exciting missions

Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland (BGCC) Summer Camp
BGCC provides a safe place for youth to go after school and during the summer where they can learn, grow, have a hot meal and have fun. To sign up, a parent or guardian should come in person and complete the necessary forms to join during regular club hours
Location: King Kennedy Club: 2561 East 59th Street – 216-881-4636 or Broadway Club: 6114 Broadway Avenue – 216-883-4663 and multiple other locations
Age: 6-18
Dates: Drop-in club Monday-Friday 12pm-5pm, Saturday 12-4pm. Summer reading program Monday-Friday 9am-12pm
Fees: $10 for summer membership – fee can be waived

Friendly Inn Summer Camp
Summer camp including math and science with Tri-C, field trips and more!
Location: Friendly Inn Settlement House, 2386 Unwin Road – 216-431-7656
Dates: May 25th – August 14th Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Ages: 5-12
Fee: $125/week or a county voucher to waive the fee

All About Kids Programs at Garden Valley Neighborhood House
The Neighborhood House will have classes in cooking, literacy, math and construction, legos, gardening, tumbling, a chalk art workshop, and more!

Opportunity Corridor Panel Discussion

Join Cleveland City Planning, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Opportunity Corridor Partnership at City Club of Cleveland for a conversation regarding Opportunity Corridor. The Connecting with the Corridor series will engage and update the broader Cleveland community regarding the many aspects of the Opportunity Corridor project. Through the work of participating stakeholders and the Opportunity Corridor Partnership, the areas of engagement will include construction, road design and planning; economic and workforce development potential; arts celebrations; and a presentation on the history of the Opportunity Corridor neighborhoods.
