In addition to essential ongoing voter registration activities, GCC will organize door-knocking canvasses every weekend from September 22 through the election. The congregations took commitments for 233 volunteers on the first two weekends of canvassing alone! Please participate at one of these four upcoming canvassing events:
Saturday, September 22, 9:30 am – 1 pm at CMSD Levy Campaign Headquarters (3235 Prospect Ave, Cleveland)
Sunday, September 23, 2 – 5:30 pm at St. James AME Church (8401 Cedar Ave, Cleveland)
Saturday, September 29, 9:30 am – 1 pm (St. John AME Church, 2261 E. 40th Street, Cleveland)
Sunday, September 30, 2 – 5:30 pm (location TBD)
They are also looking for GCC leaders to host smaller canvasses in their own neighborhoods – particularly in West Park, Collinwood, and Bratenahl. Let Greater Cleveland Congregation know if you are interested in canvassing in your own area.
Here is a sample agenda for each canvass:
9:30-10:15 am: Training
- Create teams and distribute walk lists
- Learn how to read and record information on walk lists
- Training on pro-levy message and practice role plays
- Review of voter registration procedure
10:15-10:30 am: Teams drive to canvass location
10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Canvassing of 80-100 homes
12:30 – 12:45 pm: Return to launch location
12:45 – 1 pm: Report-in and evaluation
