Vote TODAY for “The Naked Chef’s” Community Kitchen in Central @ Sterling Library

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

You may have read in the Plain Dealer 12/31/11 in “Whatever happened to . . . ” about
the status of Jamie Oliver’s “kitchen” in Cleveland.  Here’s the link to the article:
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/12/celebrity_chef_jamie_olivers_p.html.

If you haven’t, The American Heart Associated is trying to determine which of three Cleveland Neighborhoods would be the best location for Jamie Oliver’s kitchen.  They will be surveying residents of Central Neighborhood at the Cleveland Public Library’s Sterling Branch. They will not be asking residents about their health, but will be asking if they would take advantage of a kitchen, if it were located in their neighborhood, to learn how to prepare healthy food at home.

They will be surveying residents at the Library

 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

If you get the opportunity, please visit the Library and take part in the survey.  Let’s get a community kitchen in Central Neighborhood!  If you have any questions, please contact FreshLink at 216-368-8513.

Rid-All: A Green Movement Play opens this weekend at Karamu House

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

RID-ALL: A Green Movement is a science fiction adventure which explores the value of  environmental stewardship while educating urban youth and the general community  about environmental sustainability. The experience is interactive and fun with
a hip-hop twist to encourage taking care of the planet through recycling, agriculture training and going green.
Does the name Rid-All sound familiar?  They are one of organizations currently producing urban agriculture in the Kinsman neighborhood at BBC’s Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone.  This play is yet another way to introduce green concepts to neighborhood youth.

This performance is based on “Brink City, Green n’ the Ghetto” a comic book series by Damien Forshewith additional music and Lyrics by Sens Musiq

Performances on Saturdays at 1:00pm and 4:00pm starting this weekend (1/14) and continue through January 28th at Karamu House.  Cost is $10. Karamu House is located at:
