If Rain or Construction, the walk will take place  inside Public Hall

Registration & Health Screenings at 8:45a.m.

Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.

Bring comfortable shoes and come down for this FREE one or two mile fun walk. T-shirts will be provided!

Walkers are encouraged to carpool and park in the Municipal Lot at E. 9th Street and the Shoreway for $3.00 (Exact change required) (All vans and buses transporting groups too!)

 FREE shuttles will be available from the Municipal Lot to take walkers to City Hall.

Hazardous Household Waste Collection

Fall cleaning? Here’s your chance to unload!


Common household products found in the kitchen, basement, bath, and garage can emit toxic vapors into the air in your home.These products can also be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly. Safely dispose of these products during the City of Cleveland’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection.


September 13-18, 2010, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Carr Center                OR        Ridge Road Station

5600 Carnegie                        3727 Ridge Rd.

The following materials can be taken to one of the collection sites for reycling of safer disposal: oil-based paints(no latex), shellacs, varnishes, and polyurethanes primer and sealer, spray paint, adhensives, wood stains, paint thinner mercury (must be sealed in a plastic bag or container), pesticides, inseticides and herbicides, automotive products, motor oil, roof tar, fluorescent bulbs, household cleaners (oven and drain)

FREE THERMOMETER!! (Saturday Only)

Turn in your mercury thermometer sealed in a plastic bag or container and recieve a new thermometer. Limited supply available.


Materials from businesses will not be accepted.

Also not accepted: tires, latex paint, propane tanks, household batteries

Congratulations to BBC Board Member Barbara Oney, who adorns the cover of this week’s Crain’s Cleveland Business.  Barbara is president of Uncommon TV Network and producer of “Got City Game.”

Barbara’s photo accompanies a news story about the City of Shaker Heights’ attempts to launch a business incubator to grow start-ups and develop bright ideas of local entrepreneurs.  The full article (sans Barbara’s photo) is online here.
