M & M’s Moms and Mentors There’s a new program available for young moms 17-21 Who have aged out or are about to age out of foster care. Beech Brook will match teen moms with mentors who will offer support and help them work on building relationships with their children, parenting skills, anger/stress management and basic life skills. FAST, Families And Schools Together FAST is a preventative program that encourages interaction, improves communication and connects families to one another as well as to their communities and schools. Its eight week program offers a series of structured activities designed to build protective factors that reduce the risk of school failure, juvenile delinquency, and substance abuse during adolescence. Elementary FAST program students must be from Kindergarten through 5th Grade and at least one guardian must participate in the program as well. New Youth Recreation Programs Available

The City of Cleveland Division of Recreation is now registering youth for the indoor soccer and co-ed volleyball programs. Indoor Soccer is a fun, exciting game where players use the walls as part of the playing field. Instructors will teach soccer basics for new comers. Become a part of the fun and register now at your local recreation center. Games begin the week of November 4th. Co-Ed Volleyball – Learn the fundamentals of the game. Special co-ed rules are put in place to ensure the fun and safety of all participants. Uniforms and transportation are provided. Games begin soon, so register now. Blue Steel has performed for many inner city youth across the nation, and has most recently been invited to perform at the Browns Stadium and the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.

Cleveland, Ohio - The Salvation Army will begin registration for its annual community Christmas assistance program on Friday, October 9, 2009. To register for assistance this holiday season, visit one of the six Salvation Army Community Corps Centers on one of the following Fridays: October 9, 16, 23, and 30 or November 6. In order to qualify for the Christmas Distribution, you must first complete a registration application at a Salvation Army neighborhood center nearest your home. Families, who meet the criteria, will receive new toys for children age 12 and under, a gift card for Holiday groceries, and winter coats from “Coats for Kids”. You must register on one of the above dates to be included in The Salvation Army Christmas Distribution.
